Crash leaves Decatur Central High School teacher seriously injured

INDIANAPOLIS Police are investigating a crash that left a Decatur Central High School teacher injured on Indy's southwest side Monday morning. The crash occurred near Decatur Central High School at 5251 Kentucky Avenue. According to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the crash resulted in serious bodily injury. Decatur Central High School said one of their teacher's was involved in the accident. They shared the following statement:"We are deeply saddened to share that one of our own, a Decatur Central High School Teacher, was involved in an accident this morning on Kentucky Avenue, and has been transported for medical treatment. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the teacher, as well as family and the medical staff treating the teacher at this time.Out of respect for the family, who are still being notified, we are unable to share the teachers name at this moment. Thank you for your understanding. Recognizing that the accident was very visible to students and staff at the main entrance of DCHS, we have coordinated extra counseling support through Square 1 Therapy to be available for the students and staff at DCHS throughout the day.We appreciate and are thankful for the support of our first responders, including IMPD, the Decatur Township Fire Department, and Decatur Township School Police."The school said they will hold off on sharing the teacher's name out of respect for the family who is still being notified.
