GREEN BAY, Wis (WFRV) - The Green Bay Packers narrowly defeated the Chicago Bears 20-19 Sunday afternoon. Many fans from both sides packed into Stadium View to watch the rivalry matchup.
A Bears fan from Green Bay, Matthew Maldonado, was looking onto the bright side of things.
Bay Port football will play for first state championship
“At least it was a good game. It sucks about the outcome, but we live and learn. We do have a rookie quarterback right now so we're still learning a lot still. Coaching plays a big part too, you guys do have a good coach. So, coaching, we'll see what we do with this next year coming up.”
The crowd went from rejoicing to nail-biting quickly following the go-ahead Packers touchdown going onto the Bears' closing drive. A Packers fan from Dickson, IL, David Glessner, made the trip to watch the game in Green Bay.
“Going through my head we drove all the way here from Illinois, can't lose to the bears and to watch this crowd get overly excited when that field goal missed, oh it was worth the drive.”
With the last-second Chicago field goal attempt being blocked, the fans at Stadium View could not contain their excitement.
“Overly excited that we won, you can't lose to the Bears. If nothing else, the way I like what's going on, we are winning the close games.” Said Glessner, “That's going to help us as we move towards the playoff run.”
With the game being closer than what maybe fans expected, it seems like it could be a revamped NFC North rivalry in the future.
The Bears fans in attendance were already thinking about next season and are not hopeful of a playoff run this year.

“Playoffs I don't know, I think I'd say no, by the way, it's looking like our schedule is really hard right now.” Maldonado said, “So, we do have the hardest schedule in the league, the remaining schedule. I say no playoffs this year, unfortunately.”
The Packers will return home next week to face the San Francisco 49ers at Lambeau Field with kickoff set for 3:25 p.m.
