Man accused of groping employees at two local discount stores

MONROE, NC – A man is charged with sexual battery after at least two women working at discount stores in Monroe say he groped them.
The first incident happened around 6:45pm on Friday. A woman working at the Family Dollar store on E. Sunset Dr. called 911 saying a male customer approached her and inappropriately groped and fondled her. The man left the store before police arrived.
Police received a second report around 3:30pm on Saturday. A woman working at the Dollar General store on W. Franklin St. said a man approached her and inappropriately groped her before leaving the store.
Investigators say they used security camera video to identify and arrest the suspect, 28-year-old Emanuel Gerardo Gomez.
Gomez is charged with two counts of sexual battery and resist, delay and obstruct.
He was processed at the Union County Detention Center and has since been released.
