Man arrested in deadly north Austin shooting; victim identified

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Austin police on Monday morning shared details surrounding a deadly shooting that happened overnight Thursday into Friday morning.

Austin Police Department officers responded around 12:45 a.m. Friday to 911 calls reporting gunfire in the 8400 block of Goldfinch Court. When they arrived, they found one person dead.
APD identified that person as 32-year-old Travis Holland. According to police, Holland was found on the ground outside with an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on the scene at 1:01 a.m.
APD officers detained a suspect, who was identified as William Bruce, 31.
Bruce was arrested and booked into the Travis County jail on a first-degree murder charge, according to APD. KXAN is working on finding attorney information to ask for a comment on the charge. This story will be updated if we receive a response.
According to APD, Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists processed the scene and interviewed witnesses. Their investigation found that Holland was walking around the area when Bruce shot Holland from his porch, APD said.
