PICKERINGTON, Ohio (WCMH) – A family-owned ice cream shop is expanding to Pickerington with its eighth location, which will feature a rooftop patio.  Johnson’s Real Ice Cream will open at 192 Hill North Road in May. The ice cream shop is taking over an auto garage that has sat in Pickerington for decades. The 1,400-square-foot building will undergo a transformation that includes adding a 678-square-foot rooftop patio and a 748-square-foot covered patio. The ice cream shop also has a Powell location in the works that will open this spring.  The family-owned business is expected to grow from three shops at the beginning of 2024 to eight shops by spring 2025, more than doubling its footprint in less than a year.  The ice cream parlor serves a variety of flavors across its stores such as black raspberry chip, bubble gum, mango sorbet and birthday cake. Johnson's menus vary by location, and the shop has not yet released its Pickerington menu.
