PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Two venues are now shut down in Providence following violent incidents over the weekend.
Mezzo Lounge on Charles Street is now temporarily closed following a shots fired incident.
No one was hurt, but three cars were found riddled with bullets and several shell casings were found in the area by police.
Although 200 people from the club were leaving, police said no witnesses came forward.
An emergency 72 hour closure was ordered by the board of licenses.
This incident is just one of several that have prompted the city’s board of licenses to take action.
Providence nightclub, Lovera VIP, is now closed after three people were stabbed early Saturday morning.
Police responded to the club on Broad Street just before 1:45 a.m. and found three men – ages 27, 28, and 33 – suffering from stab wounds.
The club has also been shut down for 72 hours.
Saje Kitchen on Federal Hill was also ordered to close following a stabbing earlier this month.
A show cause hearing this week will decide if the establishment can reopen.
This restaurant had been closed before, after a customer allegedly bit a police officer last year.
And Afrique D’Lounge, also on Federal Hill, was allowed to reopen this earlier this month after hiring new security staff.
This comes after a security guard there pulled a knife on a patron during an altercation.
Although Afrique D’Lounge was able to reopen – the board of licenses is holding another meeting on the establishment this Thursday.
