ERATH, La. (KLFY) -- Lafayette native Mondo Duplantis returned home to Acadiana on Friday to participate in a benefit for the Acadian Museum. At the benefit, Duplantis was honored alongside Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser at the Erath Community Building for their contributions to the state of Louisiana. KLFY News 10 Sports caught up with the former Lafayette High Lion to understand how his life has changed over the summer. Duplantis collected his second gold medal in grand fashion during the Men's Pole Vault Finals at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Swedish superstar's 6.25-meter vault would break the world record and send the crowd at Stade de France into a frenzy. Three weeks following his record-breaking performance in Paris, Mondo Duplantis broke his world record yet again at a Diamond League event in Poland, this time with a 6.26-meter vault. Since then, Duplantis has enjoyed the fruits of his labor, being recognized as a mega star in Sweden. Mondo Duplantis got engaged to his longtime girlfriend Desiré Inglander in the Hamptons before returning home to his alma mater LSU. Mondo was recognized at the LSU vs. Alabama football game alongside Olympians Sha'carri Richardson and Vernon Norwood.
