Weather Forecast: Clouds clearing throughout Monday
Nov 17, 2024
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Clouds slowly moved their way back into the area this morning, leaving us with gray skies. These clouds will stick around for the duration of the day. During the overnight hours, a cold front will sweep through the area, bringing us a narrow band of rain. The good news though, it will be gone by the time you wake up Monday morning!
8-Day Forecast
After the band of rain moves through the area early Monday morning, clouds will start to clearing throughout the morning. Temperatures are expected to climb into the low to mid 50s. This dry weather will continue into Tuesday as well, just with cooler high temperatures.
While the first half of the week looks to remain on the quieter side, the second half of the week will not. We are becoming increasingly confident in a sharp pattern change that will bring colder air (both at the surface level and aloft) to Western NY. Wednesday afternoon into Thursday, scattered rain showers will impact the area. It’s Thursday evening into Friday and the weekend that we are keeping a close eye on.
UPDATE: The train is still on the track for a sharp pattern shift by this time next week. This will allow colder air to spill across much of the eastern United States, including parts of the Deep South. Model ensembles are also hinting at the potential for accumulating snow,… pic.twitter.com/s4QP6dJ4Jf— Eric Snitil (@EricSnitilWx) November 15, 2024
Rochester has the potential to see its first flakes of the season Friday and into the weekend. Rain could mix with some snow across the region with the chance of some accumulation, likely limited to those higher elevations downwind of the lakes. While this could be some exciting news for some, we are still way too far out to know exact details, but it does appear on a broad scale setup supports flakes mixing in with rain. Stay tuned into News 8 to see how the forecast on this system develops.
