The shooting happened on Choate Street in September 2023. Kante was identified by the victim to police, eventually leading to his arrest in Rhode Island.
Fall River police said Kante faces another charge -- carrying a firearm without a license (subsequent offense) -- that will be in a separate trial starting on Monday.
12 News has reached out to the district attorney's office to find out how long Kante was sentenced for and when he will be sentenced.
