NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) -- Three men suffered gunshot wounds after a shooting near Old Dominion University on Sunday morning.
At approximately 1:50 a.m., Norfolk police responded to a report of a gunshot disturbance in the 1400 block of West 37th Street.
Shortly thereafter, three men arrived at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in separate cars, suffering from gunshot wounds not believed to be life-threatening.
The preliminary investigation determined the men's injuries were connected to the shooting.
ODU students who live in a nearby house revealed they were present when shots rang out.
"I heard, like ten, 15 shots coming from right over there. And then I woke up instantly, and it was probably like ten, 15 minutes later, I heard all the people come out of that house screaming," said Aaron Anderson.
A bullet went through Jake Owens' bedroom wall, which he detailed to 10 On Your Side.
"I didn't even wake up, but then I woke up about 5 a.m., and I felt drywall in my bed. And I was like, 'what is this?' and then I'd see a text from them, and they were like, 'Is everyone okay? There were gunshots.' And then I use my flashlight, and I see there's a hole in the wall," said Owens.
No one in the home was injured, but the incident did leave Owens shaken up.
"It was like three feet above my head," said Owens.

Another student, Damien Howie, told 10 On Your Side his car was also impacted by the shooting. His truck was shot at twice.
"All the way through, and then one ricocheted off," said Howie.
Norfolk police were back on the scene and spoke to the students.
"[They are] getting reports, trying to figure out what's going on. No one is really 100% positive about what happened last night. And it's just kind of trying to piece it together and figure out what the damage is and who did it," said Howie.
The three students admit they're ready to move from the area.
"We definitely won't be living here next year," said Anderson.
Owens concurred.
"Definitely moving closer to campus next year. I mean, it's not the best area to begin with. And then when that happens, you kind of just don't want to live here anymore at all," said Owens.
The investigation remains ongoing.
