NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Officers with the New Orleans Police Department are investigating after multiple people were shot in the St. Roch area on Sunday, Nov. 17. The NOPD reported that at least 12 victims were identified in two separate shootings. NOPD officials said the first shooting happened around 3:38 p.m. during a second line event in the 1800 block of Almonaster Avenue, where officers found eight people who had been shot. Man killed in New Orleans rollover crash They were taken to a hospital for treatment. NOPD officials said a ninth victim arrived at a hospital in a private car for treatment. About 45 minutes later, the NOPD responded to another call of a shooting at the intersection of Almonaster and Florida avenues, where officers found two people who had been shot. (WGNO/Renaldo Ruffin) One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was taken to a hospital, where they later died. According to the NOPD, a third victim arrived at a hospital in a private car and was last reported to be in stable condition. Man hospitalized following Iberville apartment shooting NOPD officers said that the shootings are being classified as an aggravated battery by shooting and a homicide by shooting. The investigation is ongoing, and the Orleans Parish coroner will identify the victims.
