NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — A suspect fled from Noblesville Police Department officers and caused a crash on Interstate 69 on Sunday evening.
According to a press release, a driver committed a traffic violation in the area of 146th Street and State Road 37 in Noblesville around 7:09 p.m. At that time, NPD officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop with the driver.
The motorist ultimately disregarded NPD's officers and fled southbound on State Road 37. As the chase continued, the suspect vehicle — a 2018 Dodge Challenger — got on Interstate 69 southbound.
Shortly after the chase moved to I-69, the suspect crashed into another car near mile marker 204. NPD reported that the suspect fled on foot after the crash.
NPD, the Fishers Police Department and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department conducted a lengthy search after the crash, but the agencies could not find the suspect.
Per NPD, the driver of the car the suspect crashed into was transported from the scene to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis for a checkout.
NPD confirmed its investigation of the incident is still ongoing. The department's detectives are now following up on leads to try to identify the suspect.
The crash slowed traffic on I-69 between Interstate 465 and State Road 37 for more than an hour. As of 9:31 p.m. Sunday, traffic was moving through the area normally.
