Woman escapes alleged kidnapper with help from CSPD
Nov 17, 2024
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Nov. 16, 2024, at about 8:41 a.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to a reported kidnapping in which a woman escaped long enough to ask for help.
According to CSPD, Investigators learned a woman had entered a business and told a staff member she had been kidnapped. While she was inside, the man who allegedly abducted her entered the business, directed her to leave with him, and they left together.
CSPD said officers identified a possible location for the pair in the 1600 block of Lorraine Street in the Broadmoor area, near Cheyenne Boulevard and South 8th Street. After multiple unsuccessful attempts to contact anyone at the residence, officers forced entry due to concerns for the woman’s safety.
Inside, they found the woman on the second floor. She managed to escape the home and confirmed she had been abducted at gunpoint and held against her will, according to CSPD.
CSPD said the suspect, identified as Jason Cobb, was also in the home. Containment was set up, and members of the Tactical Enforcement Unit (TEU), K-9 Unit, Drone Unit, and negotiators were called in. Despite efforts to get the suspect to surrender, he was found hiding in the neighbor’s home, accessed through an attached attic and ceiling.
The suspect was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant and faces additional charges related to the kidnapping.
