BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Tonight, we now know who's going to compete in the Miss North Dakota competition.
“Our new local titleholders embody the qualities of talented, poised, ambitious and accomplished young women,” says Amy Cleary, local competition director, in a press release. “We are thrilled to have them represent the Bismarck and Mandan communities in their year of service.”
The results were just announced after the Miss BisMan Preliminary Competition earlier today.
Hope Burdolski, Lyndsey Scheurer, and Taylynd Stuhr are the delegates moving forward in the competition. They also crowned Miss North Dakota's Teen titles to Kendall Jones and Rita Johnson.
"They showcase a talent; they get to practice a private interview," Cleary tells KX News. "And they have different elements of competition, where they can really show well-roundness and character."
Miss North Dakota delegates were awarded $500 each in scholarship money. Miss North Dakota's Teen winners were awarded $250.
Pageant organizers say they've seen the competition grow. This year has the highest turnout they've seen in six years with seven candidates.
Testing everything from speaking skills to personal talents, staff say it's more than just about beauty with this competition; it's a great way to celebrate the beginning of womanhood.
"This is really an event," says Cleary, "for young women to showcase all that they've achieved."
