BEAUFORT, S.C. (WSAV) - The Woods Memorial Bridge in Beaufort will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic on Sunday, November 17, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. and on Monday, November 18. The bridge will be closed for maintenance so crews can install a new set of gates to block traffic when the bridge opens for boats. According to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, the previous gates were prone to electrical issues that would close the bridge unexpectedly, causing traffic backups. The closure may cause traffic backups on Lady's Island Dr. and Ribaut Rd. as motorist use the Mcteer Bridge in Port Royal to go on and off Lady’s Island during maintenance.  Man charged with murder after gunfight at Ridgeland gas station
