JACKSON, N.C. (WNCN) -- Officials in Northampton County this week asked for information in a cold case murder from 2012 and reminded possible tipsters of a $5,000 reward.
Crystal Bell of Pleasant Hill was found dead on June 24, 2012, after a call about a car fire at a home off Macon Price Road in Pleasant Hill, according to a Friday news release from the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office.
Bell, 29, died from gunshot wounds to her upper body, the news release said.
After her death, there was an "extensive" investigation but no direct evidence was found to bring anyone "to justice" in her death, deputies said in the release.
"We are asking for the public’s help to bring closure to her family," the news release said.
Officials also said there is a $5,000 reward from the North Carolina Governor's Office to anyone who contributes information that leads to an arrest.
Officers said anyone can submit tips or information anonymously on Northampton County Crime Stoppers at http://www.northamptoncountycrimestoppers.org or contact Detective W. Brown at Northampton County Sheriff’s Office at (252) 534-2611.
