(COlORADO SPRINGS) — On Saturday, Nov. 16, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to a two-vehicle crash near North Circle Drive and Constitution Avenue. When officers arrived, they discovered one of the vehicles was reported stolen. The suspect allegedly fled the scene, leading officers on a chase through the neighborhood. According to CSPD, when officers arrived at the scene in the 2000 block of North Circle, near Wasson Park, the suspect, later identified as 39-year-old Zack Canary, had run from the crash and stolen vehicle. Despite a search of the area, officers could not locate him. A community member later tipped police off to Canary's possible location. Officers set up containment in the 1400 block of Holmes Drive, near Palmer Park Boulevard and North Circle. While attempting to escape, Canary broke into a home, according to CSPD. CSPD reported that officers followed Canary into the home to make sure the people living there were safe and discovered he had escaped through a back door, running south through several backyards. He was eventually found and arrested. Canary was taken to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on multiple felony charges, including motor vehicle theft and burglary.
