NEW ORLEANS (BRPROUD) — The New Orleans Saints continue to fill up the hole they dug themselves in with a 35-14 win over the Cleveland Browns Sunday at the Caesars Superdome.
Saints found the endzone on their first possession of the game thanks to Taysom Hill after stopping Cleveland on fourth down at midfield. It’s the first time the Saints scored a touchdown on their opening possession since Week 4.
Explosive plays have been the Achilles' heel of the New Orleans defense this season. Sunday, the problem continued later in the first quarter when former Saints quarterback Jameis Winston connected with Jerry Jeudy, who turned it into an 89-yard touchdown. Despite the score, the Saints continued to lead 7-6 due to the Browns failing to convert the 2-point attempt.

The Saints opened the second quarter with an explosive play of their own, with quarterback Derek Carr finding receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling for a 71-yard touchdown, extending their lead to 14-6. The touchdown is Valdes-Scantling’s third in two games.
The Browns tied the game at 14 on their first possession of the second half with a 30-yard touchdown pass from Winston to receiver Elijah Moore while adding on a two-point conversion.
Hill continued to have a dominant day for the Saints, rushing for his second touchdown to open the fourth quarter on fourth down to put New Orleans up 21-14.
The Saints extended their lead to 28-14 in the fourth with a touchdown from Carr to tight end Juwan Johnson after starting in excellent field position thanks to a 53-yard punt return by Dante Pettis, who was elevated from the practice squad for the game.
Hill scored a third touchdown near the end of the fourth quarter, bringing the score to 35-14.
