The Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars face off in a Week 11 matchup between teams headed in opposite directions. The Lions are on a seven-game winning streak, and if they win on Sunday, they’ll tie a franchise record for consecutive wins within a single season. They currently hold the top seed in the NFC, and are the odds-on favorite to win their second consecutive division title. The Jaguars, on the other hand, are 2-8. Rumors swirled on Sunday morning suggest there could be huge changes coming for the young franchise, with possible firings for the head coach and general manager incoming. It’s a shocking fall from grace after the Jaguars made a run to the divisional round in 2022 and followed it up with a respectable 9-8 season. Although that 2023 season was more defined by the team’s 1-5 finish to the year, and that collapse has clearly carried over to 2024. So it’s no wonder that the Lions are 13.5-point home favorites this week. But this is an “any given Sunday” league, and of the Jaguars’ eight losses, only two were by more than a single score. Last week, the Jaguars took the 7-2 Minnesota Vikings to the final seconds. So if Detroit isn’t careful, this could be another close matchup on Sunday.
