CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP)-- A 2022 report found that there is a growing mental health crisis among children and teens in the United States.
The Annie E. Casey Foundation's KIDS COUNT® Data Book revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic increased trauma, anxiety and depression in record numbers in youth nationwide.

Additionally, the U.S. Surgeon General issued an advisory in 2021 about a public health crisis for the mental health of children, adolescents, and young adults. The report also cited the COVID-19 pandemic as a direct cause of the increase as children and families faced uncertainty and added stress.
The MSPCC says it is estimated that between 9.5% and 14.2% of children ages birth to 5 experience emotional or behavioral disturbance and research has found that serious symptoms of mental health issues can be seen in infants and toddlers.
