Coming off a tough loss to the Los Angeles Lakers Friday night, the Spurs looked to exact revenge on the Dallas Mavericks for their season opener loss. Unfortunately, they were dealt a blow to their stars pregame. Victor Wembanyama was ruled out with a left knee contusion, and Devin Vassell was ruled out due to injury management. The shorthanded squad put up their dukes and led after the first quarter 28-23, and even put up a fight in the second only finding themselves down by four at the half 55-51. However, the Mavs blitzed the Spurs on both ends in the third 38-18 and never looked back. The Spurs ultimately lost 110-93.
