NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — The North Kingstown School Department said that teacher and coach Lane Leedahl has died. The department said that Quidnessett Elementary School will be open from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday for “any students, colleagues, and families who wish to gather together in memory of Lane.” There will also be mental health professionals in attendance. The school released the following message to the community on Leedahl’s death: Good Afternoon North Kingstown Staff and Families, It is with great sadness that we share the news that Lane Leedahl, beloved teacher and coach, has passed away. Please join us in keeping Lane’s family in your thoughts and prayers during their time of profound grief. On behalf of the entire North Kingstown community, we offer our deepest condolences to his wife Skye, his son Finn and his daughter Raye. Although Lane left us too soon, his presence was a great gift to all who knew him. For everyone who knew Lane, he was a man of incredibly positive energy, a ray of light in their world. Whether you knew him as a teacher, a coach, a colleague, or a friend, Lane brought great joy into your life. His selfless actions, his kind words, and his deep commitment to enriching the lives of others represent wonderful memories, and also great lessons of what it means to live a life of passion and purpose. Lane leaves a legacy that will carry on for the rest of our lives, and beyond. He was a devoted husband and father, who put the love of his family above all else. He was a wonderful teacher and coach who led by example, who modeled for young people what it meant to live a life of selflessness and integrity. He was a caring friend and colleague to so many, impacting all of those who met him with his infectious smile, his kindness, and his sense of humor. The North Kingstown School Department will open Quidnessett school tomorrow, November 17th, from noon to 2:00 pm, to welcome in any students, colleagues, and families who wish to gather together in memory of Lane. We will have mental health professionals available. We will also provide light refreshments and snacks. All are welcome. During this difficult time, we thank you for coming together in memory of Lane, and in support of his family. We thank you for supporting each other, and we look forward to working together to honor Lane’s memory, and carry on his legacy of kindness and hope. Sincerely, Kenny Duva, Rob Mezzanotte, and Rachel Santa Categories: News, Rhode Island
