BASKIN, La. (KTAL/KMSS) - A highway that passes through the hometown of a country music star from northern Louisiana has just been renamed after her. (Photo credit: Office of Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser) Part of Louisiana Highway 15, which passes from LA Highway 577 to the parish line at Big Creek through Laney Wilson's hometown of Baskin, Louisiana, is now called the Lainey Wilson Highway. The Country Music Association award winner and Louisiana Music Ambassador was at the unveiling of a Northeast Louisiana Music Trail marker meant to honor her place in country music history. Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser named Wilson a Louisiana Music Ambassador back in 2022. Wilson represented Louisiana by riding on the state's float during the 134th Rose Parade on Jan. 2, 2023. Explore Louisiana won the 2023 Showmanship Award at the Rose Parade, which recognized the most outstanding display of showmanship and entertainment, partially because of her efforts.
