Video Credit: Harvey Carpenter on X WEDDINGTON, N.C. – Two people were injured after an apparent home explosion near Weddington on Sunday morning, according to the Union County Sheriff’s Office. Around 9 a.m., first responders were called to a home on Steeple Chase Circle after receiving multiple reports of a large explosion. Upon arrival, they found a portion of the home severely damaged. Officials said two people were inside the home at the time of the explosion. A man was flown to Wake Forest Baptist Burn Center in critical condition. A woman was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The sheriff’s office said it was an isolated incident and has been contained. The cause of the explosion is under investigation. This is a developing story.
