Warm start before a midweek mess
Nov 17, 2024
We've been stuck in a dreary weather pattern as of late, with sunshine being hard to come by. We don't expect this to change in the coming days, unfortunately. This comes after we saw a lot of sunshine in October.
We have not seen nearly as much sunshine in November so far compared to October.
Skies this morning are filled with mainly upper level clouds, which have allowed us to dip all the way down into the upper 30s. Certainly a chilly start to the day! A light coat or heavy jacket will be necessary mid-morning if you want to stay warm.
More clouds move in this morning and afternoon, so we won't stick with just upper-level clouds for the day. We'll be warmer than yesterday, though, with highs in the upper 50s. With the persistent cloud cover comes a slight chance of rain this afternoon through the overnight from a weak cold front. Most will be dry, as they will be widely scattered and provide minimal impacts.
Upper level clouds sticking around at 9 AM. Denser clouds approach the area entering lunchtime.Increasing clouds this afternoon.Highs in the upper 50s today.A stray shower or two will be possible this evening.
The cold front becomes a warm front during the day on Monday and lifts back north of us with the approach of another weather system. It will bring a warm start to the week, with highs in the 60s for Monday. We'll see more rain showers Monday afternoon through Monday night, with the approach of the warm front and strong weather system off to our west. Some of the overnight rain, while it looks to be scattered, could have some heavier downpours at times. Tuesday will be mostly dry, with only slight lingering chances by daybreak. It will also be the warmest day with highs in the upper 60s with us being dry for the remainder of the day.
Scattered rain showers Monday evening.More rain showers move through overnight Monday.
We will take as much rain that we can get to help quell these drought concerns across the area. We're hopeful that some notable changes can be made to the next Drought Monitor release, which has data finalized on Tuesday, and released on Thursday.
No changes in severe drought for our area this week
Wednesday brings a stark difference in our weather pattern though, as a strong low pressure system stalls nearby. This will provide windy conditions, more chances for rain showers, and if our position relative to the low pressure system plays out just right, we may be looking at the first snowflakes of the season. Uncertainty remains quite high on the positioning of the system, so as we near mid-week, we'll continue to keep you updated with the latest. We do know that we will see some winter temperatures, so bundle up!
It will be much colder by later this upcoming week.
