SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A special night for the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts. Stop & Shop presented a check for $112,500 to the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts Saturday night at the Thunderbirds Game in Springfield. "Stop & Shop partners with us in a number of ways. They provide monetary support and they also donate hundreds of thousand of pounds every year that goes out to our partner food pantries, and meal sites throughout the four counties of western Massachusetts", says Jillian Morgan, Director of Development for the Food Bank of western Massachusetts. More than $12,000 of Stop & Shop's donation will also be distributed to families across the region. It's all part of the grocery-chain's Turkey Express Campaign, where they donate gift cards to families who need extra support this time of year. The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts helps more than 120,000 families across the region every month. Over 23,000 of them are children.
