Through the day today this low pressure system has tracked south and settled over the Baja. Over tonight and tomorrow the low will begin to move into New Mexico. Ahead of this next movement, the low is drawing up moisture into New Mexico. This moisture will bring rain back to the state as soon as tonight. The rain late tonight could reach as far north as the Albuquerque Metro. The heaviest rainfall will come on Sunday. The rain will be constant all today tomorrow. The heaviest rainfall will be in the southeast and eastern New Mexico. The heavy rainfall will begin in the afternoon and last through the night. On Monday, the low pressure system will be directly over southeast New Mexico. The low will lift out of New Mexico and towards the Midwest by Monday evening. The rain following the low will stick around eastern New Mexico through Monday evening. Along with nearly statewide rain, this low pressure system will also be bringing snow to higher elevation. 6" of snow is expected for elevations above 7500' and 8" is possible above 9000'. A winter weather advisory is in place for portions of the Sacramento Mountains and Gila Wilderness through 8 a.m. Monday. Our next storm system will be clipping New Mexico Tuesday afternoon. This storm will not be bringing very much precipitation. A few spotty showers and flurries in the north are expected. The low pressure will be bringing windy conditions to eastern New Mexico. It will also be bringing cooler temperatures in the middle of the week. The cooler temperatures will not be lasting very long. A high pressure system will build over the Baja next Thursday. This high pressure system will warm up temperatures across New Mexico through the end of next week.
