Nov 16, 2024
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to a call regarding a wanted fugitive's location on Friday, Nov. 15, around 1 p.m., in which the suspect allegedly barricaded himself in the home.
According to CSPD, patrol officers, along with K9, the Tactical Enforcement Unit (TEU), and a drone unit responded to the 4200 block of Pioneer Creek Drive, near Marksheffel Road and North Carefree Circle, and set up containment in the area after learning the fugitive, Brandon Vigil, was inside a home.
CSPD said that Vigil tried to leave, but ran back inside the home when police tried to make contact. Vigil allegedly barricaded parts of the home from the inside and refused to comply with multiple commands for him to surrender peacefully.
According to CSPD, police were able to contact him by telephone and negotiate, and Vigil eventually surrendered and was taken into custody.
No one was injured, and as this was an isolated incident, there is no threat to the community.
