(KRON) – Five individuals were arrested in the Santa Rosa Police Department’s driving under the influence checkpoint Friday night.  The checkpoint was stationed at Piner Road and Coffey Lane from 8 p.m. to midnight.  Police said, a total of 871 vehicles were contacted at the checkpoint, 22 of which were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed. A driver was arrested for driving on a suspended license and another was cited for possessing drug paraphernalia and violation of probation terms. Thief arrested after concealing merchandise in suitcase: Colma police Ten drivers were evaluated for DUI and half were arrested for driving under the influence, police said.  The Santa Rosa Police Department said on its Facebook, “DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.”
