Warm and windy for our Saturday with a few showers across central and eastern Kansas during the afternoon. Highs today were in the 60s and 70s as southerly winds brought warmer air into the region. Cloud cover will linger through the night as our winds change direction. Northwest Kansas will cool into the upper 20s by daybreak as northwesterly winds take control sooner than the rest of the region. Lows will be a wide range with southcentral Kansas as the warm spot in the 40s and 50s. Patchy drizzle will start the day for some tomorrow, primarily across southwest Kansas. Cloud cover stays locked in place overhead for the majority of the day. Temperatures will be much cooler tomorrow with highs in the 50s and 60s. Spotty showers will arrive for southern Kansas during the evening as our next wave of energy enters the region. Showers will move through areas primarily along and east of I-135 on Sunday night. Pockets of heavy rain will be possible at times. Moisture will continue to track from Oklahoma into Kansas for the start of the workweek. A low-pressure system will bring moisture to the Plains on Monday. This system will track right through Kansas and result in excessive rainfall across parts of the state. A Marginal Risk for severe weather is in place for Monday across central and eastern Kansas. A few storms could produce strong winds and hail at times as well as thunder and heavy rain. Many will run into widespread rainfall during their morning commute on Monday. The bulk of the rainfall will stay in central and eastern Kansas but scattered showers and storms will be possible across western Kansas. As the low lifts north, moisture will follow it out of the state during the afternoon. Scattered showers will hang around through the evening before we dry out on Monday night. Areas across central Kansas could pick up anywhere from 2-3" of rainfall over the next three days. This month is already the 5th rainiest on record for Wichita and we look to climb in that placement this week. A quick-moving cold front will track through the state Tuesday night into Wednesday. This boundary will not have much moisture to work with over Kansas but will try to squeeze out a few showers and flurries as it moves through the region. Precipitation will be limited. Temperatures drop dramatically midweek as northerly winds rush into the region behind the passing boundary. We dip to see highs in the upper 40s on Wednesday before gradually warming towards our seasonal average by Saturday.
