NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Officials with the New Orleans Police Department warn that an Instagram page has recently been publishing names and pictures of juveniles who were allegedly involved in crime investigations. The posts have reportedly been coming from the "EmpowerYouNOLA" Instagram account, and despite the allegations, the NOPD insists that the posts are not affiliated with the police department, and they have not confirmed the names or details that have been shared as individuals that have been arrested by them. Human remains found in river in New Orleans East NOPD officials say sharing personal information or images of juveniles in this way may not be against Louisiana law, however, they raise important concerns about the potential for misinformation. They additionally added that any person, whether arrested or not, is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty. The public is asked to contact the NOPD through official communication channels for accurate information that has been verified.
