Hawaii football hammered by Utah State

The University of Hawaii football team's thin bowl hopes were thoroughly dismantled in a 55-10 loss at Utah State on Saturday.
Hawaii dropped to 4-7 overall and 2-4 in Mountain West Conference play, while Utah State improved to 3-7 overall, including 2-3 in Mountain West games.

A disastrous start for the Rainbow Warriors saw the Aggies jump to a 24-0 lead midway through the second quarter. Utah State gained 193 yards to Hawaii's seven in the first quarter, while UH quarterback Brayden Schager threw three interceptions.
Schager was removed in the third quarter and went to the locker room with an apparent injury, completing 11 of 19 passes for 124 yards.
Following Schager's exit, Hawaii rotated between backups Micah Alejado and John-Keawe Sagapolutele at quarterback. Alejado completed 11 of his 12 passes for 111 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions, while Sagapolutele was 2-for-5 with 27 yards and two interceptions.
Utah State's offense was relentless for the duration of the game, gaining 580 yards. Rahsul Faison ran for 191 yards with two touchdowns on 20 carries, while the Aggies as a team ran for 321 yards.
Defensively, Utah State amassed seven sacks as a team.
Next up for Hawaii is senior night against New Mexico on Nov. 30. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex.
