Pedestrian hit, killed while crossing National Highway in Thomasville, police say

THOMASVILLE, N.C. (WGHP) — The Thomasville Traffic Safety Unit is investigating a Friday evening crash in which a pedestrian was killed.
According to a news release, at 7:19 p.m., Thomasville officers responded to a crash involving a car and a pedestrian at the intersection of National Highway and Fairway Avenue.
A 2010 Lincoln Town Car was traveling south on National Hwy. and approaching the intersection at Fairway Ave. when Michael David Baker, 66, of Thomasville, who was traveling west, entered into the path of the car while attempting to cross National Hwy.
Baker died at the scene.
The driver of the Lincoln was uninjured.
