North Carolina food pantry seeing rise in visitors, need compared to last year

RICHLANDS, N.C. (WNCT) -- One Richlands food and hygiene pantry is asking for the community's help.
Representatives with The Blessing Shed said they've had a large amount of visitors this year. In October of 2023, they had around 290 guests and this year, they've already seen more than 650.
The Blessing Shed is open to everyone Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. People can take whatever they need from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
"If they can come in here and get a can of soup and a thermal blanket and have a warm belly for a few minutes and a full belly, then I mean, I'm really just not sure that it gets better as far as serving your neighbor and just sharing hope throughout community than that," Amanda Humphrey said.
People can donate non-perishable items and hygiene products directly to The Blessing Shed.
