ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Charter Champions hosted a turkey giveaway Saturday afternoon to more than 150 families to enjoy this Thanksgiving. The organization, led by CEO Dr. Paul Miller, hosted the giveaway to support students and their families. The turkeys were given away on a first-come, first-served basis. Charter Champions' mission is to provide resources and support to charter school families, who often lack the resources available in traditional school districts. Dr. Paul Miller is an advocate for educational equity and the CEO of Charter Champions, and sees the turkey giveaway as a way to relieve some of the financial strain on families so they can focus on spending their Thanksgivings celebrating connecting with loved ones. “Thanksgiving is a time for unity, and every family deserves to gather without feeling the financial strain," Dr. Miller said. "Our charter school families may not have access to the same resources as other districts, but we’re committed to supporting them both academically and beyond.”
