Live PC Give PC exceeds dollar goal with $5.1 million raised

A pent-up anticipation settled over Park City on Friday as a storm slowly blew in, mirroring a similar anticipation of the year’s annual Live PC Give PC day of giving. They Park City Community Foundation had set a lofty goal this year: to raise $5 million from 7,300 donors, all within 24 hours. By dark, the storm finally broke, blanketing Main Street with a quiet snowfall. A few businesses in Old Town weren’t so quiet as the night went on, though.SOS Outreach, a nonprofit which provides access and mentorship to kids interested in winter sports, was hosting a party at the Patagonia store, with live music, raffle prizes, empanadas from Tina’s Bakery, hot chocolate from LOCOCO and beer from Wasatch Brewery.The event started at 6:30 p.m., and by the time the nonprofit team was setting up, the group had already reached their goal for the day — $25,000 with $15,000 matched by Beano Solomon. By the end of the day, SOS Outreach had raised $40,764 which would all go back to their Park City-based programs.As the party at Patagonia neared the end, just a few blocks over the High West Distillery party was forming a line. In what has become tradition, the High West Saloon welcomed the public on the night of Live PC Give PC from 8 p.m. to midnight for a watch party with drinks and dancing. A projector screen showed the website with live updates.By 9 p.m., the numbers were nearing the foundation’s goal at 6,559 donors and $4.1 million.Joel Zarrow, president and CEO of the Park City Community Foundation, spoke to the room, thanked people for their support, and raised his High West glass in a toast.By the end of the 24 hours, Live PC Give PC exceeded the dollar goal by raising $5,145,757 from 7,042 donors for 138 organizations.Mountain Trails Foundation, again, led overall with 902 donors and $263,780 raised, exceeding their $250,000 goal. Summit Land Conservancy followed in second and Park City Education Foundation, third.The All Nonprofits leaderboard will award its top winner an additional $1,250, with second place getting $1,000 and third place pulling in $750. The other leaderboards will give their top winners $1,000, with second place receiving $750 and third place taking in $500.The six other category winners are as follows:Peace House topped the People & Community board, sponsored by the Canyons Village Management Association
