MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A man is facing an attempted murder charge after Memphis Police say he shot someone who allegedly owed him money.
On Friday, Memphis Police responded to a shooting in the 1000 block of Linden Avenue.
When they arrived, they found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest sitting inside his vehicle.
The victim was taken to Regional One in critical condition. Officers were unable to get a statement from him at the time because he was taken straight into surgery.

However, before being taken to the hospital, officers said the victim motioned his head toward a man sitting on a park bench who was later identified as 67-year-old David Jones.

Jones was detained and while he was being detained, he allegedly said, "I'm sick of that guy owing me money."
Officers located a Berretta 950 BS .25 caliber handgun in Jones' pocket. This matched the spent casing located in the middle of the street next to the victim's car.
Investigators came to the scene and spoke with a witness who told them that Jones and the victim had been arguing for about the last two weeks about money.

The witness said he heard the gunshot and then saw Jones walk from where he'd heard the gunshot and sat down next to him at the park table.
When he sat down, the witness claims that Jones said, "I shot him."
While speaking with investigators, Jones refused to give a statement and was later taken to 201 Poplar.
Jones has been charged with attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.
