BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Zachary entered the Non-Select Division I playoffs as the No. 14 seed. That is rare for the Broncos as they have been ranked inside the top 10 the past few years. Zachary still hosted a playoff game, welcoming in Sam Houston.
Zachary got off to a 28-7 lead in the second quarter after DaVekio Ruffin punched in a six-yard rushing touchdown. Zachary seemed to be in control of the game, with six minutes until halftime. That quickly changed as Sam Houston scored four touchdowns on their next four drives, all coming through the air. In a blink of an eye, the score was tied 28-28 at halftime.
Zachary did not flinch, scoring on their first drive of the third quarter behind the legs of Ruffin. Zachary's defense also tightened up; linebacker Michael Septs snagged an interception to give the ball back to the offense.

Zachary has no time to celebrate as next week they travel to Ruston for the second round of the playoffs. The team that crushed their championship dreams in the Superdome last season.
