Football Friday Night: Denham Springs' season ends in overtime against West Ouachita in overtime
Nov 16, 2024
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Denham Springs' 2024 season ends in heartbreak, falling to West Ouachita on the road in overtime, 42-41.
The Yellow Jackets got off to a hot start but came up empty-handed after a missed field goal. Both teams failed to put up points in the first quarter but that changed in the second quarter when MJ Owens punched it into the endzone to get the Chiefs on the board first.
The momentum was leading to West Ouachita in the second quarter, but Denham Springs stopped a big gain by forcing a fumble and recovering the ball. Jerry Horne gave the Yellow Jackets some life on offense, connecting with Colton LeBeouf to get into the redzone.

That set up Horne to use his legs to get into the endzone, Denham Springs failed on the two-point conversion, making the game 7-6. Horne used his legs to start the second half as well, finding paydirt for the second time, cutting into the Chiefs' lead, 14-12.
From there it was a shootout, but West Ouachita barley edges out the Yellow Jackets in overtime, winning by just one point.
