Spencerport unveils new EV charging station
Nov 15, 2024
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Electric car owners now have another place to charge their vehicles, and it's right in the heart of Spencerport!
The village announced its completion in the form of a ribbon cutting Friday afternoon. It comes from a proposal submitted in 2022 by Spencerport Municipal Electric to the New York Power Authority.
Due to how close the village is to Rt. 531, the expressway and various shopping centers - the site was officially approved.
"A few years back we became an energy-efficient community through NYSERTA, and a lot of that had to do with our electric department also changing all of our streetlights to LED and our businesspeople also had the opportunity to have LEF lighting in our businesses, again, championed by our electric department," explained Mayor Gary Penders.
