VISALIA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A new solar project set to save residents 20% on their electric bill is officially launching Monday in Visalia with additional projects poised for Corcoran and Lemoore.
The Community Solar Project, developed by Dimension Energy, will deliver clean, solar-powered electricity to 1,172 households in Visalia, 1,271 households in Corcoran, and 1,243 households in Lemoore.
In addition to its eco-benefits, the renewable resources company says the project will provide electricity at a 20% discount and save residents an average of $40 per month. Visalia's 20.2-acre solar farm, which is roughly 10 minutes from downtown, is also poised to create new jobs for the community.
Dimension Energy says the pilot projects are the first and last of their kind and will serve as a model to the California Public Utilities Commission as it considers how to deploy the $250 million in Solar For All funds from the Environmental Protection Agency this year. Dimension Energy developed the initiatives as part of the Disadvantaged Communities Green Tariff (DAC-GT) program.
