NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Friday night, officials with the City of New Orleans announced that Mayor LaToya Cantrell would be in Rio de Janiero for the Urban 20 Mayor's Climate Summit.
The summit will include mayors from around the world to look at ways to speed up the development of sustainable green programs and policies on climate change, especially in urban and major metropolitan areas.
According to the City, the mayor will participate in panels and working groups to create actionable plans that will be presented to the G20 countries during their conference next week, also in Rio.

The trip is Cantrell's latest overseas visit. In May, she traveled to Qatar. Last December, she traveled to Dubai. Both trips were to attend conferences with environmental themes.
During her time in office, she's also traveled to France, Montreal, Kenya, and South Korea as well as a list of destinations in the United States and Canada.
Cantrell is expected back in New Orleans after the G20 event ends on Monday.
