MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Police are investigating a case of elder abuse after a naked, malnourished man was found living in deplorable conditions at a Bethel Grove home.
Nicholas Greenwood, 38, told officers he was taking care of the man and was arrested and charged with abuse of a vulnerable adult.

Officers were called to the home in the 2600 block of Arlington Avenue Tuesday afternoon by a friend of the victim.
The woman said she was concerned about the victim's recent weight loss and said she had seen Greenwood beat the victim "into submission."
Officers said when they went inside the home, they observed "unlivable conditions." They said the house was cluttered, had a leaking roof, and smelled of feces.
According to police, the victim was found lying naked in a bed with a rug covering his private parts. The man was transported to Baptist East in non-critical condition.
Greenwood said he was just an acquaintance and that two other people had also been staying at the residence. He was the only person taken into custody.
