NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WANE) -- The Coalition for a Better Allen County gathered 1,000 signatures alongside residents of New Haven to oppose the casino proposed for New Haven.
According to a release from the Coalition, "The movement is rooted in a shared belief that New Haven is a special place—one that thrives on strong family values, community safety, and local pride."
New location for proposed New Haven casino sees new concerns
The hope of the petition is to ensure that the homes of New Haven residents remain safe for future generations.
WANE 15 reached out to Full House Resorts Spokesperson, Zack Sand, in regards to the petition.
"We appreciate and respect the views of those opposing our proposed resort and casino development. Likewise, we hope they appreciate and respect the views of all local residents who welcome the $500 million of private investment, thousands of jobs, tens of millions of annual tax revenues, and homeowner property tax rebates that our proposal will bring to New Haven and Northeast Indiana," said Sand.
State Senator Dr. Johnson will hold a town hall at 13119 Harper Road Nov. 18 about the proposed casino.
