ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — $3 million will go towards an expansion of Rochester's Daystar Kids organization.
Governor Hochul announced the funding Friday morning, saying the funds will help the facility move into a 48,000-square-foot facility in Brighton. This project will help the program meet increased demand.
"This project will help Daystar Kids launch a lifetime of learning, health, and inclusion for even more children in our community who need our services and will establish a new paradigm for children across New York State," Daystar Kids CEO Kim Condon said in a statement.
Daystar Kids is a non-profit organization supporting children with complex healthcare needs and developmental challenges. The expansion will create a model for preschool special education to support the learning and healthcare goals of children enrolled in the program.
The $3 million was received in a grant from Empire State Development. The new facility is expected to be operational by 2026.
