Colorado driver’s licenses, ID cards back online after national outage

Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles offices resumed normal operations Friday after a national outage prevented workers from issuing new driver’s licenses, permits and ID cards.

DMV staff reached out to those impacted by the outage to reschedule appointments after the national Social Security Online Verification System stopped working, the agency said in a news release.
Online driver’s license and ID card services were also unavailable because of a technical issue.
The cause of the outage is still under investigation, state officials said Friday.
