SOUTH DEERFIELD, Mass. (WWLP)--The town of Deerfield has a new operational state-of the-art EV charging station just as the busy holiday shopping season is getting underway.
The new fast charging hub is the first project of its kind in the eastern United States. Town and state officials along with project developers took part in a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new electric vehicle ultra-fast charging hub located on North Main Street in South Deerfield.

"We think the town of Deerfield is going to attract a lot of interstate travelers on I-91 who will be able to learn about the site through their car navigation systems or mapping apps, park here and then go out and grab a sandwich or lunch," remarked John Tourtelotte, managing director for Rivermoor Energy.
The public access charging hub includes four new chargers, two level 3 fast chargers that can charge most electric vehicles in as little as 20 minutes, and two level 2 chargers. The charging hub was made possible through a Federal Charging and Fueling Infrastructure grant.
