Albuquerque woman pleads guilty to killing estranged husband

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque woman pleaded guilty in court to killing her estranged husband on the Fourth of July in 2023.
Erica Valdez was charged with second-degree murder and now faces up to 25 years in prison. Investigators said Valdez and shot and killed Joel Valdez.

The District Attorney's Office said Erica Valdez made multiple attempts to shoot Joel. She will be sentednce at a later date.
Valdez's boyfriend at the time also was charged for his possible involvement in the incident.
