ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque woman pleaded guilty in court to killing her estranged husband on the Fourth of July in 2023. Erica Valdez was charged with second-degree murder and now faces up to 25 years in prison. Investigators said Valdez and shot and killed Joel Valdez. She will be sentednce at a later date. Valdez's boyfriend at the time also was charged for his possible involvement in the incident.
