Fall River postpones homecoming game due to an ‘abundance of caution’
Nov 15, 2024
FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Fall River Public Schools said it will be postponing the BMC Durfee High School homecoming football game originally scheduled for Friday night to 12 p.m. on Nov. 16.
The school system said the decision was made “out of an abundance of caution and following the advice of law enforcement” due to an altercation between Fall River students and others off-campus on Nov. 14.
“While this incident is not directly connected to our school community alone, we believe it is in everyone’s best interest to take extra precautions to ensure the safety and enjoyment of this special event,” Superintendent Dr. Tracy Curley said. “We understand how much this game means to our students and the Durfee community, and we thank you for your understanding and continued support.”
