In a game that featured virtually no passing, two physical teams battled it out for 48 minutes in the first 11-man game of this weeks State championship slate. Coming in, many believed Sioux Valley would control the line of scrimmage and let star running back Donovan Rose. Rose had a good game including a long touchdown run for the teams second score of the day. But it was the Winner Warriors who prevailed with a late score off a QB sneak from senior Eli Vobr that would prove to be the games winning touchdown. Sioux Valley was able to stop the Warrior and earn one last drive, but a beautiful punt pinned the Cossacks deep with no timeouts and time would ultimately run out on the Cossacks season awarding the Warriors their 10th State Championship all-time. The outstanding back of the game was awarded to senior Gus Bartels, the outstanding lineman of the game was given to Shawn Hammerbeck MVP was earned by Carson Keiser, all three from Winner. Congratulations to the Warriors on a great win, and the Cossacks on a great season.
